Community solutions to local problems
Grounds4Change offer solutions that are specific to the communities. Our focus is on community involvement and multi-agency working.

Community Clean Ups
Grounds4Change have 6 years experience running community clean ups. 100’s of tonnes of material has been removed from various communities across Bristol. 55% of what we collect on clean ups is recycled, reused or composted. The community get involved in the work by litterpicking and helping to separate waste. Through this process we aim to educate the community about the issues surrounding waste as well as reducing the total amount of landfill.
Environmental Youth Work
Grounds4Change launched the St Paul’s Youth Environment Forum after being approached by local young people who wanted to improve their local environment. The children meet every fortnight to do practical activities and promote environmental issues in St Paul’s. The initatives benefit the local environment and engage young people in positive activities.
Environmental Events
A recycling art competition launched to raise the profile of recycling in the area. Following workshops in local schools pupils worked together to design images and paint up a plastic bottle bank.
Improving spaces in the community
Grounds4Change can respond to the needs of local people and make ideas happen. For example, a substation in St Pauls was being regularly used for fly tipping. With help from capital funding from SWEB the area was fenced off and Grounds4Change worked with local people and an artist to improve the space with planting and artwork.
